New Highs, continued
Sources To Spot New Price Highs
IBD publishes a list of stocks making new highs each day. It also lists, on the Industry Groups page, those industries with the greatest percentage of stocks making new highs. IBD's 52-Week Highs & Lows also provides insight into which industry groups are asserting market leadership. By watching the leaders on this table, you can position your investments to take advantage of the stocks poised to advance. Leading stocks within the leading groups are shown each day. The list of new price lows is a good place to check for industries and stocks that are weakening. You probably want to avoid these. The number of new price highs compared to new price lows provides a measure of the overall market's health.

In this example, you can see the medical sector is leading the market with 24 stocks making new price highs (as indicated by the number in parentheses). Each individual stock is listed with its EPS Rating. This table provides an accurate picture of which sectors are the market leaders.
IBD's "Stocks in the News" sections feature 24 mini-graphs for the Nasdaq stock market and another 24 for the New York Stock Exchange. These are stocks to check because they are making new highs, are within 15% of their 52-week high or led the market in volume increase as price moved up. (Stocks shown are at least $12 in price. Stocks already 15% above a price-consolidation period are omitted. In these cases, there's a good chance a stock won't make much more of an advance.)

The IBD stock tables show each stock's high over the past 52 weeks, so you can put the stock's recent price history in context. And stocks making new highs or up at least $1 are boldfaced, while stocks making new lows or down at least $1 are underlined.
